Dried and chili-seasoned mango in strip format, produced in Thailand and marketed under the La Alteña® brand. The product consists of approximately 8–13 cm long strips, with a firm, chewy texture and a characteristic sweet, tangy, salty and spicy profile. Its formulation combines mango with sucrose, citric acid, chili powder and iodized salt, creating an intensely flavored fruit snack.
Dried mango, sucrose (added sugars), chili powder, citric acid, iodized salt, sulfur dioxide, and added colors Red 5 and Yellow 6.
Mango strips approximately 8–13 cm long, subject to natural variations in length, width and thickness. Texture is firm, flexible and chewy, with a visible chili coating and yellow-orange to reddish coloration resulting from the fruit, seasoning and added colors.
Flavor combines the fruity sweetness of mango and added sucrose with acidity from citric acid, saltiness and chili heat. The resulting profile provides a pronounced balance of sweet, tangy, salty and spicy notes, accompanied by characteristic mango and spice aromas.
Ideal for direct consumption as a chili-seasoned fruit snack, candy tables, snack bars, bulk-food displays, hotels, cafés and foodservice establishments.
It can be combined with other dried fruits, peanuts, seeds and nuts to create sweet-and-spicy snack mixes. It is also suitable for snack boards, chamoy preparations, toppings, cocktails and prepared beverages, or may be cut into smaller pieces for confectionery and dessert applications requiring a fruity and spicy component.
1 Kg cylindrical PET Jar (CIL). Dried and chili-seasoned mango in strip format, with pieces approximately 8–13 cm in length.
Store in a cool, dry place protected from direct light and heat sources. Keep the PET Jar properly closed to minimize moisture absorption and protect the product from external contamination.
After opening, securely close the container after each use and handle only with clean, dry utensils. Prolonged exposure to heat, humidity or air may promote stickiness, clumping, excessive hardening or changes in color, aroma and texture.
The product should contain recognizable, flexible and chewy mango strips with relatively uniform chili coverage and characteristic mango-and-spice aroma. Flavor should retain a clean and distinct balance of sweetness, acidity, saltiness and heat.
Avoid product showing abnormal moisture, fermentation, foreign odors, excessive hardening, visible contamination or mold. Moderate variations in length, thickness, shape, coloration and surface chili coverage are characteristic of this type of product.
When sold prepackaged in a 1 Kg PET Jar to the final consumer in Mexico, the product must comply with the applicable provisions of NOM-051-SCFI/SSA1-2010.
Because the formulation contains sucrose as an added sugar, the product's nutritional information must be evaluated against the applicable Mexican nutrient-profile thresholds to determine the required front-of-package warnings. When the corresponding thresholds are exceeded, warnings such as EXCESO AZÚCARES — EXCESS SUGARS and EXCESO CALORÍAS — EXCESS CALORIES must be displayed. Because the formulation also contains iodized salt, total sodium should be evaluated to determine whether an EXCESO SODIO — EXCESS SODIUM warning is also required.

Chili-seasoned dried mango combines fruit preservation through moisture reduction with a flavor profile widely appreciated in Mexico: fruit, chili, acidity, salt and sweetness. Sucrose intensifies sweetness; citric acid contributes acidity; iodized salt and chili develop the salty-spicy profile; and sulfur dioxide is used as a preservative and to help control undesirable changes during storage. The result is an intensely flavored, chewy processed-fruit snack that is nutritionally distinct from fresh mango or dried mango with no added sugar.
